Townsville

Went from one end of the country; Melbourne Victoria, (last post), to Townsville in far north Queensland.
As we had not been that far north before, most of the birds were new to us, and the Butterfly was an added bonus.
All the photos except for the Raven were taken at our relatives' house yard where we were staying.

Australian Raven (Corvus coronoides)

Great Bowerbird (Ptilonorhynchus nuchalis)
Cairns Birdwing (Ornithoptera euphorion)(Male)
Australia's largest butterfly 125mm - 150mm

Escapee Lutino Indian Ringneck
Helmeted Friarbird (Philemon buceroides)

Scaly-breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata)
Also called Nutmeg Mannikin or Spice Finch. (Introduced, used to see these in our yard a long time ago.)

White-gaped Honeyeater
 (Lichenostomus unicolor)

A great number of new birds and the butterfly is very beautiful. You have been very lucky to travel such a distance across the country - we have an amazing diversity in this country - but perversely I am quite content with what I can see in our own area!! Thanks for sharing.

Some fantastic birds there but if I could only get to see one of the above, I would pick the Cairns Birdwing.

A fantastic mix of birds to see, and that butterfly is just stunning.

Great selection of birds, but must admit the butterfly is a standout for me. We see so few butterflies here - too much spraying in the vineyards I suspect.

Isn't it great to visit a new area and try to find unfamiliar birds? You really saw some wonderful species. As others said, that butterfly is seriously stunning!

All the best.
